Being a good farmer does not only mean to have certain qualities, be an entrepreneur and leader; although these are necessary characteristics and traits farmers need to take definite safety precautions in order to ensure the smooth running of their farms. Taking risks in business is sometimes necessary but risk on ground are always costly and may not only lead to losses in revenue but may also result in loss of precious life. All good farmers keep proper safety checks on their farms. Here are some safety tips which need to be actualized;

Do not Rush

Never rush any work on the farm and never tell your employees to do it either. Hurrying up work is known to lead to accidents and damages; it also causes unwanted results. Try and manage time appropriately and never resort to rushing.


Cleanliness

Keep things clean and tidy around the farm. You do not want unwanted rubbish to be present at the farm site as this can be a cause distraction while working. Dry garbage can potentially cause fires as well and other pollutants can have a negative impact on the crops and the people working around them.


Maintenance of Machinery and its Uses

Keep all machinery well maintained in order to avert risky situations. Keep children away from the site where machines e.g. tractors work. Minimize accident risk by using the machine according to the book and never try anything silly or things just for fun.


Proper Training

Make sure you or the employee working the machine has proper training regarding the standard operating procedures of the machine so that safety is ensured at all costs.


Remain Fresh

Avoid working on the farm when tired because tiresome and fatigue have been categorized as agents of accident. Work only when fresh and ready for it.

Do not wear ordinary clothes on the farm or when operating machinery. Wear the appropriate safety clothes before working in order to avoid any unfortunate situations.
